GCSE Results 2026
There were smiles, celebrations and some very proud families at New Mills School today as Year 11 students collected an outstanding set of GCSE and vocational results.
The school is delighted to be celebrating its best-ever attainment in English, maths, and science with students achieving excellent results across the curriculum. There were also some exceptional individual performances, with several students securing the very highest grades across a wide range of subjects.
The results continue an exciting period for New Mills School, following the school being judged Good by Ofsted in March 2025, and reflect the hard work and commitment of students, staff and families.
Headteacher Mrs Heather Watts said:
“We are absolutely delighted for our students. Results day is one of those very special days in school when you see years of hard work, determination and support come together. To achieve our best-ever attainment in English, maths and science is something our whole school community can be incredibly proud of.
“Of course, behind the headlines are hundreds of individual stories. Every young person collecting their results today has their own starting point, their own challenges and their own ambitions for what comes next. Today is about celebrating all of them.”
Among those celebrating were two of the school’s Head Students, Emily and Rina pictured beaming after opening their results.
One particularly remarkable achievement came from Rina, who achieved the top grade in every subject she took. Rina joined New Mills School from Ukraine in September 2022 and has gone on to achieve an extraordinary set of results.
Mrs Watts added:
“Rina’s achievements are quite exceptional. To join a new school and a new country and then go on to achieve the very highest grade in every subject is something of which she should be immensely proud. She is a wonderful example of what can be achieved through talent, determination and hard work and we have been delighted to be part of her journey.
“We are equally proud of the many different successes we have seen today. For some students that means a string of the very highest grades; for others, it is achieving the grades they need to take that important next step. Every one of those successes matters.
“Our school values are Think Big, Do the Right Thing and Team Spirit, and I think today captures all three. Our young people have thought big about their futures, worked incredibly hard, and have been supported along the way by a fantastic team of teachers, support staff and families.
“Following our Good Ofsted judgement last year, these results give us another reason to be immensely proud of New Mills School and, most importantly, of the brilliant young people we serve.”
Students will now move on to a wide range of sixth forms, colleges, apprenticeships and training opportunities, taking with them the qualifications, confidence and experiences gained during their time at New Mills School.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026!
