Maths Faculty

As a core subject, all students study mathematics throughout their key stages 3 and 4.

We strive for all of our students to enjoy mathematics by making the subject engaging, building clear real world connections to the skills they learn, and by making the material challenging but accessible for all students - at all key stages.  We aim for students to develop their analytical skills and problem solving abilities, which they can then apply to other areas of the school curriculum. Their studies also allow students to appreciate mathematics as a form of communication and the importance that the subject plays as a foundation for future study and economic well-being.

A variety of teaching methods are employed by the teachers in the department. Lessons encourage mental agility, reflection, written and verbal communication and the presentation of a mathematical argument.
