There are 2 main aims for the Construction BTEC. Firstly, to provide students with an introduction to the construction industry with a career in mind. The course is a useful starting point for students wishing to progress to careers from various trades to surveying and architecture.
Secondly, the course will provide practical life skills which can be very valuable later in life regardless of chosen career paths. The BTEC Construction course provides the opportunity to explore the industry at a basic level with a view to continuing on to a level three course and beyond.
Post 16 education also offers various vocational construction courses which may specify a particular element or trade.
The BTEC qualification maps straight across to GCSE grades as follows:
- DISTINCTION = Grade A
- MERIT = Grade B
- PASS = Grade C
