I am a Derbyshire Dales District Councillor and Peak District National Park Board Member. I was a pupil of New Mills School in the 1950’s when it was a Grammar School and hold Masters Degrees from Oxford and Sheffield Universities.

I have lived in the area for 20 years and very much want to see a vibrant school were all pupils have the opportunity to achieve their potential. Work wise I have worked in the ‘Outdoor’ industry for many years after originally qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.

I was born and have lived in New Mills all my life. I have also worked at New Mills Dental Practice for almost twenty five years.
I attended New Mills School as have all three of my children, and have spent the last six years as a Governor doing what I can to support the school, the community and its young people.

I live in New Mills and my son is a pupil at the school. My other son will be a pupil in the near future. I am also an architect and run a small practice based in Stockport working on residential and commercial projects, many of them locally. As a governor, I wish to help the school with its continued improvement and to seek new opportunities to foster links to the local community and enterprise.

I have been a parent governor since 2012 and have lived in New Mills for 15 years. I have three children aged 22, 18 and 9. As a female Chartered Civil Engineer I have a strong interest in ensuring
equality and diversity across all subjects, but in particular making a difference in Science.

I moved to New Mills from Manchester two years ago, looking for somewhere with a sense of community and beautiful scenery, which this town has in abundance! By day, I work at the University of Manchester as a Communications Manager. I am passionate about education as a force for personal and social good, and I feel privileged to be able to help ensure this for the young people in the town where I live.
